Don’t miss Puppy Bowl V

by richmonddogs on January 30, 2009 · 0 comments

puppy-bowl-v2Whether you’re looking for an alternative to the Super Bowl or just want to do a little channel surfing when the game gets slow, check out PUPPY BOWL V! This fun-filled annual canine competition airs on Sunday, February 1, from 3 – 5 p.m. (ET/PT) with a new all-adoptable lineup.

The majority of the puppies are mixed breeds. Go mutts! The main attraction consists of puppies doing puppy things—roaming around on a miniature indoor football field, chewing on stuff, wrestling and tackling each other. To get to know each pooch, read their stats here.

Keeping with the tradition of other major sporting events, Pepper the Parrot (of Pet Star fame) will kick off this year’s ultimate puppy showdown with a unique rendition of the National Anthem. And fifteen frisky kittens (also potential adoptees from Petfinder) will add to the puppy pandemonium in an all-new KITTY HALF-TIME SHOW.

Animal lovers can rest assured that all participants will receive the utmost care and respect during the game. The program has again earned the American Humane Association’s “No Animals Were Harmed” end-credit disclaimer. A referee is even on hand to call penalties, including “Unnecessary Ruffness.” So make your fantasy picks now and come online during the pup fest to vote for MVP (Most Valuable Puppy).

Even for all you die-hard Cardinal and Steeler fans, it will be a tough event to miss. Who can resist all that cuteness?
