Vote for Buddy! Purina ProPlan Rally-to-Rescue

Titus

Titus

Titus is a Lhasa Apso that recently found a family in Norristown PA ready to take adopt a physically challenged dog. Titus is wheelchair-bound due paralysis in his hindquarters for the past four years. His family in GA was moving to another state and just could not take him with them. This is when the American Lhasa Apso Club Rescue (ALAC) stepped to help him find a “furever” home.

After contacting several rescuers in the organization, Walte and Ellen Pfendner decided to make Titus part of their Lhasa family. The hard part was finding mid-week transportation. Titus’ family lived in Georgia but the new family lived in Pennsylvania. The word spread to all the rescues along the eastern seaboard to find volunteers for each of the legs to the trip. After 3 days of planning, with five legs filled, Titus arrived at his new home late on July 15th after a 14 hour journey with loving rescuers.

Titus now lives with two other rescued Lhasas, Buddy and Suzie. Buddy is another special needs Lhasa that came through ALAC Rescue. He had a lot of medical issues and his former family just could not afford the needed surgery to keep him alive. After an extensive medical procedure for 37 imbedded stones in the urethra, a long stay at the veterinarian’s office, and a two month recovery with his foster Mom in Bedford PA, he went to the Pfendner home.

Buddy

In May, Buddy suffered from a herniated disk and had to have another extensive surgery. Buddy underwent back surgery, followed by crate rest and then water therapy. He is now walking but with a little unusual gate. Since Titus had similar problems, the Pfendner’s thought he would fit right in the family. Buddy is one of the ten finalists in the Purina® ProPlan® Rally-to-Rescue Doing More for Pets promotion and Titus is hoping to walk in his pawprints in 2010.

Check out the site and vote for Buddy! Titus will be with Buddy and his Lhasa sister Suzy at the ProPlan® Nationals in November as Lhasa Ambassadors at the Rally-to-Rescue Booth. ProPlan® has bestowed a great honor to ALAC Rescue by making the Rescue a Rally-to-Rescue Ambassador. If Buddy wins the competition, he will walk the same mats as the ProPlan® Best in Show.

If you are in search of a Lhasa just go to the American Lhasa Apso Club Rescue site or type in Lhasa rescue in any search to provide you with enough resources to find one. Even if you are looking for another breed there are rescues out there for just about every breed and everything in-between.
